Created like a large cinematographic fresco, Expo 67: Mission Impossible is a fast-paced thriller that opens on the executives who were the real ‘Mad Men’ of Montreal. The organizers had only 1628 days to build an island, 128 pavilions, 3 bridges, and trains capable of welcoming tens of millions of visitors to the site. A computer from the Stanford Research Institute predicted failure. The first organizing committee resigned en masse. Speculators quaked in their boots. And Ottawa and Quebec had serious reservations about paying for a fleeting event costing more than all of Montreal’s bridges combined.
