Inspired by true events, HAPPY SLAPPING follows a group of five rich suburban kids as they set off to the inner city to seek out fame. Their plan is to manufacture an evening so shocking that their smartphone footage will turn them into instant Internet celebrities. After the group’s rivalled by another street gang, and intimidated by their online idol, they are forced to take their misbehavior up a notch in order to make a name for themselves. And, as always things get out of hand, however, this time everything’s being recorded!

HAPPY SLAPPING bears a resemblance to THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT and PARANORMAL ACTIVITY; all are filmed in this POV, reality-style shot on hand-held cameras. This ground-breaking film for Millennials asks the perennial question posed by youth worldwide: “How far would you go to make a name for yourself?”

The film was developed and produced with the participation of Telefilm Canada.
